One of the coolest and most iconic vehicles from the Star Wars universe has come to life thanks Gerlinger Steel & Supply, a Northern California company. They just built a life-sized version of the TIE fighter, the symbol of the imperial fleet in the original trilogy.
At 10-feet tall and 2,100 pounds, this stainless-steel aircraft took a team of six a month to build in their spare time for an upcoming trade show. The team cut out the stainless-steel parts from sheet metal and then roll-formed and laser-cut the materials before they were welded together.
