Walmart’s $250 billion commitment to buy products that support American jobs is expected to make a big impact on US manufacturing. Within the next 10 years, more of the company’s vendors will be sourcing American-made products and components to support their “Made in USA” initiative.
When Walmart's vendors shared that finding U.S. manufacturers was a challenge, the company found the solution in ThomasNet.com — giving suppliers immediate access to 500,000 U.S. manufacturers of products and components. A special Corporate Edition of ThomasNet.com, specifically for vendors in Walmart’s supply chain was created adding new collaborative features to the existing supplier discovery platform for large buying organizations.
Walmart announced this collaboration at their 2015 Manufacturing Summit — to the more than 2,000 existing and prospective companies in Walmart’s supply chain.
